Young Footliters Act 2

Young Footliters:
A theater group dedicated to providing a positive singing and acting experience to the youth from kindergarten to 12th grade in the Iowa City area

How it works

FAMILY PARTICIPATION

Young Footliters works because of parental participation. Parents are required to volunteer for every show their child(ren) are in. No matter where your strengths lie, there will be a fulfilling opportunity for you. It may be with costuming, stage set-up and tear-down, set decoration, publicity, ticket sales, concessions, backstage work, Board of Directors, etc. You have the opportunity to sign up on the Membership Form for the area that you are most comfortable with.

THEATRE CLASSES

Enroll interested youth in drama classes. These classes are required for participation in the Young Footliters. (See Theatre Classes section)

AUDITIONS

Auditions for the Young Footliters’ plays are announced in Iowa City newspapers and in the Young Footliters’ newsletters. The Young Footliter philosophy is that every youth who auditions should be able to participate in the show provided they fulfill the drama class requirement. Competitive auditions may be allowed for plays intended for older age groups.

At the time of auditions, membership paperwork must be completed and updated.

REHEARSALS

Rehearsals are usually held in the late afternoons and early evenings for 6 to 10 weeks prior to the show. Rehearsal schedules vary. The closer to show date, the more frequently actors will be required to be at rehearsals.
